Galatians 6:6-10: in context

6But let him who is taught in the word share all good things with him who teaches. 7Don’t be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption. But he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season if we don’t give up. 10So then, as we have opportunity, let’s do what is good toward all men, and especially toward those who are of the household of the faith.

Paul states a law as certain as any in nature: do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. Sow to your own flesh, and you will reap corruption; sow to the Spirit, and you will reap eternal life. And so, he says, let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Our choices are seeds, and they grow into a harvest of their own kind; the harvest cannot be cheated or fooled. And then comes a word for the long haul: doing good can be tiring, and the harvest often seems slow to come, but Paul urges perseverance. The crop comes in its season to those who keep sowing and do not give up. So, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those of the household of faith. What we plant, day after unremarkable day, we will in time gather; the discouragement is in the waiting, but the harvest is sure for those who persevere.

What am I sowing day by day, and am I persevering in doing good without growing weary, trusting the harvest will come in its season?
