Matthew 28:16-20: in context

On a mountain in Galilee, the risen Jesus gives his disciples their marching orders, words that would send the church into all the world. He begins with the ground of it all: all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. On the strength of that authority, he commands: go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey everything he commanded.

And he ends with a promise: behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Notice how the command is bracketed by Christ himself. Before the commission comes his authority: we go not in our own name but under the authority of the risen Lord of all. And after it comes his presence: we do not go alone, for he is with us always. The task, to make disciples of all nations, is vast, but it rests between the authority and the presence of Christ. This is the church's abiding mission and each believer's calling: to share the good news and help others follow Christ, going out under his authority and in the assurance of his unfailing presence.

Do I take up my part in Christ's commission to make disciples, going out under his authority and in the confidence of his promise to be with me always, even to the end of the age?
